DER HUTMACHER shop in Regensburg Image by: Anaxila |
Last weekend I visited a presumably small town near Munich called: Regensburg. The extremely catholic city (where the present pope is from, go figure) is as charming as it is filled with surprises. Not only is the large medieval center of the city a UNESCO World Heritage Site but (for us sartorial aficionados) Regensburg hosts the iconic shop of DER HUTMACHER. The German millinery shop makes some the best crafted hats in the world, amongst them, some of the fascinators and hats for her majesty the Queen but most surprisingly (at least for me) Alice in Wonderland's Iconic hat worn by Johnny Depp as THE MAD HATTER. Isn't surprising to find such a symbolic piece of pop culture in a small town in Germany? OH! What a Wonderful World!
