Frida Kahlo and her immense influence on unapologetic fashion... and other things

My Favourite Frida Painting: THE TWO FRIDAS
Beautiful Frida

With Diego
For me particularly Frida Kahlo has been an immense influence and specially on the month of November I always remember her because she also reminds me of the colourful celebration of the day of the dead or DIA DE LOS MUERTOS that is celebrated on November 1st in México. But I'll write another blog post about that specifically because there is so much to write and I love the subject. Anyway about Frida Kahlo, I obviously admire her as an artist because she has a very particular sensibility portraying deep pain and passion through intense, vibrant colors. Also, how she depicts the female experience as a roller-coaster of emotions and self exploration makes her one of my favourite ladies in the world. She was bold and unapologetic in everything she did, from her art to her personal life and that evidently translated to her sense of style. What I love the most is that I am sure she had no particular awareness of what was "fashionable" but by just expressing her colorful soul and vibrant life experience she created an unprecedented  style that I am sure even the very creative Vivianne Westwood or Galliano could never closely resemble. Here is to you Frida wherever you are! ERES LO MAXIMO!
